One Woman Decided
to Build What Was Missing

When Victoria survived a stroke that developed into acute kidney failure, she found herself inside a system that was overwhelmed, under-funded, and unable to care for the people inside it.

From her hospital bed, she watched patients around her struggle to afford scans, medication, and food. She saw people leave before they were ready — not because they were healed, but because they simply had no choice. No money. No transport. No one to explain what would happen next.

After her own discharge, Victoria experienced firsthand how little structured, affordable recovery support exists for patients in Uganda living with stroke, heart conditions, and kidney disease.

So she built it herself. The Challenge FM Foundation is Victoria’s answer to a gap she lived through — a place where people with no choice can receive real treatment, with dignity, and without fear.

Many patients cannot walk, cannot afford transport, and have no one to take them. Without a way to get to care, appointments are missed. And missed appointments cost lives.

A Rare Clinical Dataset from Sub-Saharan Africa

The CFM Bio Lab generates longitudinal biomarker data on stroke, cardiac, and renal patients in a low-resource Sub-Saharan African context — a dataset that is almost entirely absent from current global health research.
